Yes, it makes total sense! I think we'll likely need to hear it a few dozen different ways, because it's so deep though and hard to remember/live it :)
Loved this, Jennifer! I am doing the War & Peace slow-read too, my first time reading it. It has been wonderful. And I checked out the Hip Hop-Eration trailer and figured out where I can stream it this weekend!
Also, I loved war and peace. my father gave it to me in college and i fast read it. maybe slow reading would be a new experience. your slow reading group sounds amazing.
An amazing, inspiring and generally fabulous (I ran out of adjectives😀) piece! I can't wait to see this movie, hopefully it will be streamed as I live in a rural area with no theatre. I love that you compared War & Peace and hiphop. Thank you Jen!
Oh Jen, that last bit in bold just made me gasp, clutch my chest and start weeping (healthy, letting-go tears). Thank you so much for writing and sharing that.
An inspiring piece as always. I'm off to look for that movie now. Question-Do you think movies about older people have gotten less 'cute' or are they same but we seeing it through a different lens, now that we are creeping closer to that age? Or maybe there are more older people making the moves so there's a different perspective? It's no longer a young producer pointing and saying, "look how cute that is!" but rather a mature producer saying "It's not too late."
Jen, once again your insights are such a soothing balm and an inspiration at the same time!
Thank you so much for being so fully, openly yourself and sharing that self with all of us. xoxo Cat
hug you in May!! thank you for reading, means the world.
Ahh, thank you for sharing this and cutting through the illusions we all hold as a shield to protect ourselves from what we think might happen.
did it make sense?? i wasn't sure I nailed it.

oh yes, I've already forgotten 27 times since I published the piece.

tell me what you think after you watch it! And I messed up and read a chapter today - which means tomorrow morning will be a sad one :(
😂 You can always re-read the chapter tomorrow so you have extra insight to add to the chat!
👍🏽❤️
